These studies show the glow of evening through the beautiful chamisa that grows prolifically in our area.  In the autumn, our chamisa blooms in brilliant yellow puffs, creating a striking contrast against the deep greens of the pinon and juniper.  It is among the most lovely of high desert plants, and makes for a fun, quick study!  These sketches were created in oil on board and, in plein air ala prima (on site in one sitting)!
